BEST Viewpoints Options
BESTViewpoints Options
Several options are available to modify the default setting of BEST Viewpoints. The following descriptions complement those in the tooltips associated to each of the elements of this menu.
In the Data + View tab and the spreadsheets output the spreadsheet is limited by default by
Max Display Fields in Output (the maximum number of fields displayed) and
Max Display records (the maximum number of records displayed). Changing these values say to 12 and 30 respectively will allow for a larger default display in these tabs.
Not all fields are shown in the Group tab of the Advance Spreadsheet but only those that have less than 500 distinct elements. To change this number to a larger number use the options button in the light bulb and change
Max Distinct Elements Per Category. This change will only take effect when uploading new datasets. If the user has already made many definitions in the current spreadsheet session all these definitions can be saved in the Template tab of the Basic Spreadsheet. Min distinct elements per category has an analog interpretation.
Max Display Fields Buttons sets a limit to the number of field buttons such that when a dataset has more than 12 fields, not all are shown in the screen, but a slider is used to scroll field names showing 12 at a time.
Max Display Groups in Advanced Spreadsheet is used to lock the Summaries view in the Advance Spreadsheet. For example, if a dataset is grouped by a field that contains more than 15 distinct elements, then only the Summaries view will be available unless the user changes this number to a higher value.
Default Data Viewer is used to modify the way BEST Viewpoints displays results. Limited Tab View limits to five the maximum number of tabs in a Tab View. SlideTabView is a TabView with sliders such that the maximum number of tabs displayed in a TabView is controlled by the user. Some users might prefer to see all tabs simultaneously (TabView) or just one at a time (MenuView).
Default colors used for creating charts can be modified and saved as templates for future use. Note that it is important to use a series of colors that are easy to differentiate. To create a new sequence of color buttons and move them to the desired location using the slider. Make sure you click the Update button to accept your definitions. The Test button can also be used to check the effect of the new sequence of colors in the currently selected Viewpoints module.
